Reflections - What did I take from EAB023

I found EAB023 - Maths Exploration in Early Childhood, to be a useful and informative subject to take for primary years eduction.  Running alongside MDB002 - Teaching Primary Mathematics 1, I was able to see the connection early childhood mathematics has to primary mathematics.  Where we were learning strategies, extensions, and facts through MDB002, we were introduced to the very basics in EAB023 - we began at the start.

To me, this seemed like a daunting situation to put myself in.  Having completed grade 1 in 1991, a whole 19 years ago, I had long removed myself from the basis and beginning processes of mathematics.  However, with wonderful instruction and activity packed tutorials, I feel my understanding of mathematics has extended, and my appreciation of the subject as a whole has grown.

EAB023 has provided me with activities and learning experiences I feel confident in presenting to a younger primary class.  From beginning processes, to algebra and geometry, mathematics should not be looked upon as a horrid subject, but more as an enjoyable experience to ready primary students for the rest of their lives.
